Alpe d'Huzes

An annual Dutch Charity event which takes place in early June, which sees thousands of cyclists, walkers and runners attempt to climb Alpe d'Hues six times in a day. This wonderful event has been running since around 2006 and currently sees around 5000 people taking part over two days, with thousands more family, supporters and volunteers lining the famous 21 bend climb to Alpe d'Huez.

Event organisation originally took place in one of the campsites in Bourg d'Oisans, but as it grew, moved to larger locations within the town. It has now moved up to Alpe d'Huez, which due to the size of the mountain resort has better facilities for a larger event. However, the weather at this time remains considerably better at lower altitudes, so with the start line just a few kilometres along the valley, Chalet Freeride remains a fantastic location to bring your cycling team for the Alpe d'Huzes.
